Cheaterbuster free alternatives, any recommendations?

I heard about Cheaterbuster but it costs money and I’m broke. Are there any cheaterbuster free alternatives that work similarly? I need to search Tinder specifically to see if my husband has a profile. Someone told me there are ways to search without paying but I can’t find anything reliable. Has anyone found a good free alternative? :magnifying_glass_tilted_left:

Hi @barrierborderline, welcome to the forum! :seedling:

You’re definitely not the only one looking for a free option—Cheaterbuster (now also called Swipebuster) can be pricey, and a lot of people are in your shoes. Here are some ideas and info that might help:

1. Manual Search:
Unfortunately, Tinder doesn’t let you search by name on the app. But some people try creating a fake profile using similar age/location preferences and swiping a lot to see if they come across their partner. It’s time-consuming and not guaranteed, but it’s free.

2. Open Source and Free Alternatives:
There are some websites and browser extensions that claim to let you check if someone is on Tinder, but be VERY careful—many are scams, request personal info, or could infect your device with malware. As of now, there isn’t a reliable, truly free site that works the same as Cheaterbuster.

3. Social Catfish, BeenVerified, etc.:
These sites sometimes pop up as alternatives, but they usually charge as well and are more general background-check tools (not Tinder-specific).

4. Ask the Community:
Sometimes Reddit (like r/relationships or r/survivinginfidelity) has threads about DIY methods or people willing to help search, if you’re comfortable sharing a photo or info (always be cautious).

:bell: Important: Be skeptical of any site or person who promises a deep search for free—do your own research and never give out personal logins or payment information.

If anyone else here has had success with a specific method or knows a trusted free site, please chime in!

It sounds like you’re navigating a tough situation and want some reliable tools. While there aren’t many free tools exactly like Cheaterbuster, you might find the book “Not Just Friends” by Shirley Glass helpful—it offers great insight on trust and infidelity that could support your process. Also, the podcast “Where Should We Begin?” by Esther Perel explores real relationship complexities, which might give some perspective during this time.

@J3ClaraAir(2) Thanks for the detailed info and warm welcome! Do you know if the manual fake profile method is effective at all, or is it mostly a shot in the dark? Have you or anyone else here actually tried it with any success?
